Question and Answers

Q:

What can be making a loud humming noise in my refrigerator?

A:

Normally this type of noise will be coming from the evaporator fan motor. It's usually a signal that it could quit running at any time. Sometimes the air baffle can make a noise also but it's generally not as loud and doesn't make a noise all the time. It would only make a noise when it's opening and closing. If it makes a noise most of the time, it will probably be the fan motor. The evaporator motor number is 4389147 and is available at Sears PartsDirect . If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.

A:

why would the water be hot coming out of dispenser? the frame when you open both doors is very hot.... still cooling but its 15 years old,,, what does the evaporator motor cost and what would stop working if that was the case.

Q:

Why is the icemaker not working on my Kenmore refrigerator?

A:

On something like this you need to check if the icemaker fill tube #2 is frozen. If the fill tube is frozen there is a repair kit out to fix this problem, part number 4389174. If the fill tube is not frozen you can manually cycle the icemaker & check voltage to the water valve #10. Please see the icemaker troubleshooting guide provided in the images below.

Q:

Why won't the ice maker work?

A:

From what you submitted, I think you mean the ice maker is not getting any water. This could be a defective valve or ice maker. If the ice maker will cycle but won't fill, there is a quick check that can be made from the module. Remove the front cover from the ice maker to expose the module and you will see some test terminals (I'm sending you a picture). Using a well insulated jumper, place it between terminals L-V on the module. Be careful this is a hot (live) test. If you get water now replace the ice maker but if there is still no water flow, replace the water valve. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.
