Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the ice chute freezing. I know how frustrating that is.

This can happen if the chute door does not seal good and also if the door is opened frequently or for extended periods of time. To check the chute door, shine a flash light in the chute from inside and then see if you can see the light on the outside of the door. If you can see light, the door mechanism # 8201649 may need to be replaced. If it appears ok, it will probably be due to the door openings. Every time the door is opened the bucket is outside and condensation can develop and create this problem. The best method to free the bucket now will be with a hair dryer but be very careful not to get anything too hot.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Ice maker not working

A:

I can appreciate your efforts to resolve this issue with your ice maker. Changing the filter might be resourceful in that when a filter becomes occluded the ice maker is effected first. So, if your due, I would suggest doing that first to rule out this possibility. Is the ice maker filling with water? If not that might point to a frozen fill tube. I will forward your question to an expert who will investigate the matter further and get back to you. You will hear from them within two business days if not sooner. Until you hear from us, have a nice day.

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. The blink light is the optic board (4389102) for your ice maker (2198597). The first image below will assist you in testing the boards. If the optic board test good, then the issue is with the ice maker itself or the water valve (W10408179) for your refrigerator. Here is a great troubleshooting video to help you determine what's going on with the ice maker. You'll need an ohms/volt meter to perform an provided test. You can order parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
