Q:

ice maker not working

A:

Thank you for your question. First disconnect the icemaker wire harness. If water flow stops, the icemaker part number  2198597 will need to be replaced. If water continues to flow, unplug the unit at the wall outlet. Now you need to remove the back cover panel, to access the water valve. Disconnect the wire harness connections on the valve and plug the power cord back in. If there is no water flow, it indicates a wiring problem in the cabinet. If water continues to flow, turn the water supply shut-off valve off, to stop the water flow and the water valve W10408179 will need to be replaced. These can be ordered at www.SearsPartsDirect.com.  If you want a technician to take care of the repair, service can be scheduled at www.SearsHomeServices.com.

A:

You have to proceed with the test to determine whether it is the icemakler itself or the water valve. This is the only way you will find which one has gone bad.
