Kenmore side by side refrigeator ice maker not working

A:

An ice maker is an important feature on a refrigerator, when it stops working it can be frustrating. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a nice day!

It can be frustrating when a part is discontinued, like the gasket burner for the Maytag range.   An expert will research information if the burner can be used without this part.  It may take two business days, usually sooner. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker stops working. This icemaker has some test terminals on the module that may help determine what the problem is. To access the terminals, pull the front cover off of the icemaker. The terminals will be marked (see picture) and using a well insulated jumper, place it between the L - V terminals. Be careful this is a hot (live) check. With the jumper in place, water should flow to the icemaker. If water does flow, the icemaker # 4317943 will need to be replaced. If no water flows but you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # W10408179 will need to be replaced. If nothing at all happens, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website:  Sears Home Services. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

The part number that you provided is for a garage kit that will help the refrigerator operate properly at lower ambient temperatures than normal. This kit will not work on the refrigerator model 106.52282201. There is not a garage kit that is available for that model. This model should only be located in an environment where the ambient temperature will not drop below 55 degrees.

Q:

How do I remove the evaporator tray, item #1105523 from a Kenmore refrigerator model #106.52282201?

A:

The drain tray will come out from the front or the rear. To get it out from the front, remove the bottom grill and you will see a wire gate on the left side of the filter housing. Remove the wire gate and the drain pan will pull forward but it will be tight. You can remove the filter housing screws and move the filter housing slightly to help get the drain pan out. If it still seems too tight, it will come out from the rear. Pull the cabinet out and disconnect power to the unit. Now remove the back cover panel and you will see the condenser motor and the drain pan behind it. Remove the condenser motor and the drain pan will come out. If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
