Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the water. Taking out the icemaker will not cause any water flow problems. If you would like to remove the icemaker, it will be fine or you can simply raise the shut off arm to disable it. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thanks for the help Scott. I felt safer unplugging and removing the icemaker after soaking and moping up 10 gallons of water that morning where it had hung, Luckily i was home to hear it running and caught it sooner. I have had problems with the icemaker and need a new one. any idea on $$ pricing $$ of a new one and would you or would you not reccomend a used one from a second hand store? and again Scott thanks for all the help.

The icemaker # 4317943 sells for $125.18. Now, if disconnecting the icemaker shut the water off or unplugging the power cord, then the icemaker will need to be replaced. However, if you had to shut the water valve off to stop the water flow, then the water valve # 4389177 will need to be replaced. It sells for $65.09. This type of problem will usually be caused by a stuck water valve but the icemaker can also cause this to happen. I would not recommend getting a used icemaker. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, I will be glad to assist you further.
