Q:

What is causing this clicking noise and this refrigerator to quit cooling?

A:

The clicking sound you hear is coming from the relay/overload mounted on the compressor. If this kit is weak or the compressor is locked (stuck), the overload will make this sound when it trips, opening the circuit to the compressor. This is a safety to help protect the compressor. A technician will have the equipment to check and determine if the start kit or the compressor is needed. You can try a new start kit # 8201786 but if the compressor still won't start, it will need to be replaced. This kit is available at Partselect .
