Q:

parts installation 106.51264104

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about how to install the start device assembly for your Kenmore refrigerator. I am so sorry to hear the part needs to be replaced. I will be happy to help you with this.

SAFETY WARNING: Be sure to disconnect power to the refrigerator before starting this repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock.

The part is normally protected by a cover that clips on and off. The part pushes into place, no screws or bolts. You will need to disconnect wire leads from the old relay to attach them to the new one. In this particular case, the assembly has replaced the relay used on several different compressors so it will come with step-by-step installation instructions. The kit will include different connectors in the box and the instructions will assist you with selecting the right one for your model. (You can see examples of them in the photo of the kit.

Q:

Why will my icemaker not make ice in my refrigerator?

A:

The fill tube for your icemaker may have frozen. You can check this by looking above the icemaker at the tube in the ceiling of the freezer. If the tube is frozen you can defrost it with a hair dryer.

The other possibility is that the portion of the water valve that feeds the icemaker has failed. You can test this by listening the next time you hear the icemaker motor running to hear the solenoid on the water valve hum. If it is humming and water isn't running the water valve is defective.
