Question and Answers

Q:

Ice won't dispense thru door 106.50562990

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your ice will not dispense out of your refrigerator door.

I did look into the model number you have provided, and it sounds to me like it could be the dispenser solenoid or it could be the ice bin motor not pushing the ice out.

Press the lever in slowly and listen for a clicking sound. If you do not hear this sound, it will indicate that either the switch has failed or the actuator is not making contact with the switch. If you dod hear  the clicking, the problem could be with the motor or wiring. Remove the top door hinge and make sure the connection of the wiring harness is tight. If they are ok, then a voltage check will need to be made with the blue and white wires.  Reconnect power and press the door switch. If there is 120 volts between these wires, it will indicate the motor 2188242 has failed and needs to be replaced.

Q:

Ice maker has stopped making ice 10650562990 Kenmore Side-by-side refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing earsPartsDirect.com. Thank you for your question. I know how upsetting a nonworking ice maker can be. If you don't have any water or ice in the mold of the icemaker try these instructions. If the icemaker is full of ice and not dumping any, replace the icemaker.

Remove the ice bin from the freezer and look good at the icemaker fill tube above and behind your icemaker. If it is frozen up the water can't reach the icemaker. You can defrost the fill tube with a hair dryer.

If the fill tube isn't frozen up the easiest way to test the water valve is to swap the wires on the water valve. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and unplug it.

Remove the cover across the bottom at the back of the refrigerator.

The wires for the solenoid coils on the water valve are in pairs. Unplug the wires from the solenoids and reverse them.

Plug the refrigerator in and open the freezer door. Hold the light switch in and get someone to depress the cradle on the dispenser for water. The water should run into the icemaker.

If water runs into the icemaker you need a new icemaker. If the water doesn't run into the icemaker you need a new water valve.

If you do not feel comfortable checking the refrigerator yourself, I recommend a technician out to your home.

If you would like a Sears technician to complete the repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this helps you. Have a great day.
