Question and Answers

Q:

how does one tighten a loose door handle on this model? 10644429601 Kenmore Elite Side by side refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I understand how important it is to be able to repair a loose handle on your refrigerator. To remove the handle, turn the set screws, located on the side of the door handle nearest to the middle of the refrigerator, counterclockwise to loosen the door handle (key #9 on the image below). Tighten the screws located on the refrigerator door by turning the set screw on the inside of the fastener clockwise until tight. Make sure the screw (key #11) and the stud (key #5) aren't stripped. If they are, it should be replaced.
I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the parts you may need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page.

Q:

How do I access the actuator mechanism for the ice maker dispenser to diagnose the problem?

A:

To access the dispenser, insert a screwdriver under the bottom of the cover and pry outward. Then you can lift it up, to free the top tabs. I'm attaching a picture with instructions. With the cover off, you will have access to the actuator and you can remove the control bracket (# 15 in picture) and get complete access but be careful, there will be some live wires associated with the control bracket. If you want to check the dispenser motor, you will need a meter that reads both ac and dc voltage. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.
