Q:

Pressure relief valve keeps popping. How do I fix this? 106154580 Craftsman Craftsman twin cylinder tank type paint sprayer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the compressor. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.

If the compressor continues to run after the cut-out PSI point, it is usually indicative of a failed pressure switch. This would also explain why the pressure relief valve pops. Based upon the symptom, I think a replacement switch should solve the issue. The part number is 19J27M.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Your unit is from 1987, and I do apologize due the age of the product the manual is no longer available from the manufacture.

After 5-10 years the manufactures stop selling and making certain parts.

I can understand you wanting to know if the pressure switch is the correct one for this model. Because of the age of the air compressor the pressure switch part number has be substituted to the new 19J52m but you may have to use a longer piece of 1/4 inch pressure relief tubing to get it to work. You may have to go to a hardware store that has copper tubing to get the 1/4 tubing you need. You can take the old relief valve tubing with you to get the right diameter. There should be a diagram inside the cover of the new pressure switch it should solve your issue of coming on when you plug it in to the wall outlet. It should also have a off and auto position lever on the switch so you can turn the unit off without unplugging it from the wall. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
