Q:

Can't find a replacement part for flap in ice dispenser area GSS25LGMBBB Ge Refrigerator m series

A:

Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife.  I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

Well if your flap is not closing the warm air will sure cause problems with the ice.  The other issue is I am sure sorry if you talked to technicians that have never worked on a refrigerator before.  Below are the pictures of the flap, crank and spring you will possibility need.  This flap is controlled by a solenoid and the crank may have gone faulty or the flap is worn and not sealing.

Also here is a video of the same problem on a GE refrigerator .

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Thanks. The video is helpful. I will take the panel off to see what the issue is before ordering the parts. As for the parts you listed, there were no pictures of the flap, crank, or spring. Could you possibly give me the parts numbers so that I can look them up? Thanks again!

This is a very late response, but better late than never. I replaced the solenoid and that took care of the problem. The solenoid that was in there was old and rusty and replacing it was pretty easy. Thanks for your help!

How ti fix heavy water on floor,

A:

I hope it didn't make a mess of your kitchen... There must have been a significant amount of ice that had built up. Send us the part number to your ice maker and we will be able to send you instructions on how to install it. Or, you could put the part number in the upper right hand corner of this page, in the search box. Don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything else. Have a nice morning.

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the water leaking on the floor. If there was excessive frost on the evaporator, it could and probably would cause the drain pan to overflow. This usually occurs when the defrost system fails. The defrost system in this model can fail due to the following:

  1. Main control board
  2. Sensor
  3. Heating element
If any of these components fails, the defrost system will not work and create the frosting condition. I recommend having a technician make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will assist you further.
