Q:

cardboard piece on inside of oven 36363699303 Kenmore Elite Microwave

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the part for your Kenmore Elite microwave model 36363699303. I am so sorry the Mica Wave Guide Cover has crumbled. I will be happy to help you with this.

The wave guide serves two functions. Microwaves are created by the magnetron and this wave guide covers the opening through which they enter the oven cavity. The wave guide protects you from accidently touching the magnetron which contains electrical voltage even when the microwave is off. It also prevents steam and food splatter from getting on the electrical components of the microwave. For these reasons it is important the part be replaced. I have included the link below for you to order the part. I have also included the link for the screw that holds it in place in case you need that also.

Microwave ovens are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged from the power supply. Even minor door repairs and adjustments can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed using a survey meter after ANY/ALL microwave service. For these safety reasons I recommend having this repair completed by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you for your quick response. I am so sorry the information I provided was difficult to understand. If you click on the link I provided you will be able to see a photo of the part to confirm this is the part you need. You will also see the part number there. In case you are unable to open the link, the part number is WB06X10311. I also included the link for the screw that holds the wave guide in place. I included that information in case the original screw is damaged. That part number is WB01X10107.  I wanted to be sure you have all the parts needed to complete the repair. The wave guide is held in place by the screw. Extreme care must be used even when replacing a simple part on a microwave. The magnetron can retain enough electrical charge to kill a person if it is accidently touched. This is why we caution our members to have a technician complete all microwave repairs.

I hope this information is easier to understand. Please let me know if you need further clarification. Thank you again for choosing Sears.

You should have received a substitute control board that is part number WB27X10311. That substitute control board should look like the one shown in the first image below. The second image shows an instruction sheet that should have been supplied with that part. The third image shows a drawing of the original control board and the wiring diagram for the range. The wiring diagram is difficult to read but that is the best reproduction that I have for that document. That information should help you wire up that new control. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician replace that control board, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Hi Tracy,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

If your dryer heats when you first turn it on the most likely failure is the valve coils. Here is a video that will demonstrate gaining access to and replacing the valve coil kit (part number 279834); Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. This video is for demonstration purposes only. This dryer may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

I have this Kenmore model, and am having the same problem with heating. I removed the plug from the lower left front to check the ignitor. It started out glowing, but then faded out, so I followed instructions in a previous expert post, which said, "If the ignitor is glowing and then fading out, all of the components noted above are apparently okay. Your likely failure in this situation would be failed gas valve coils. There is a kit available that has both coils for a lower price than purchasing them separately. The part number for the kit is 279834." I purchased the valve coils and followed the instructions in the video posted on 10/3/11, but it does the same thing. any other suggestions?

Hi Michael, I provided a wiring diagram for your dryer in the first image below. The second image has a theory of operation for the gas burner assembly. This information may help you determine the cause of your problem. The igniter should be fading off as described in the second image. If the igniter glows and then fades without ignition, you could have a failed gas valve, plugged orifice, or gas supply issue. I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post. Landell
