Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your concerns about your new Kenmore Elite Food Processor. I am so sorry you are having an issue with it straight out of the box. I know how frustrating that is for you. I have great news, your food processor comes with a 5 year limited warranty against failure due to a defect in material or workmanship. Please take it, with the box and your receipt back to any Sears store or other Kenmore outlet for a replacement. Make sure you take the manual that came with it which shows the warranty information on page 2.

I hope this answers your concerns. I want to apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this has caused you. If I can be of any further assistance, please respond to this thread. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you for your quick response, I have been a loyal customer of Sears products due to the warranty and the fantastic customer service over the past 50 years that I have traded with Sears Robuck. With that being said, I now have been rejected from my local Sears store in Atlanta GA. for this out of the Box problem. They tell me (store manager) that the customer service and return programs have changed over the last 6 months and they will not exchange any item that shows $0 credit (even if the warranty is still in effect and even out of the box problems) all I wanted was a replacement or equal and I would go on my way satisfied that all is still customer focused at Sears as it has been over the past 50 years, but now I am questioning the entire fondation that Sears was built on for so many years in the past. I can only assume that this model had major problems and instead of having a recall Sears has just discontinued the item and also eliminated parts for repair as I have checked on line for these parts. I purchased this unopend product on the internet due to the quality that Sears Kenmore Elite products have allways had, and due to the fact that I did not keep my receipt on this still in warranty product I am turned away when all I wanted was an equal or same replacement. I truly would like to continue to support the Sears products going forward, but with this type of change in customer satisfaction It will be difficult to recommend these products (all Sears products) to my employees and family going forward. As I know I am most likely fighting a no win battle, due to management changes relating to customer service, I will ask you to please forward this to top Customer Service Management. I can only hope that Management will see the problems that this type of program change on replacement new items will cause going forward. I hate to say this, but this is reminding me of the radical changes that Penney's has went throught that has lost them all of there loyal.

The motor in that food processor is probably bad. There are no replacement parts available for that type of problem in the food processor. The only thing that you may try is to plug the appliance into a different outlet. There is a chance that low voltage from the electrical outlet could be causing your motor failure. If the food processor works the same after plugging it into a different outlet, then that motor is probably bad. Since there are no repair parts available for that issue, the entire food processor will need to be replaced.

The spring is not a part you can order. If you are able to use the food processor without the spring in place, I would glue the slide button and use the food processor.
