Q:

Why does the light stay on in my Kenmore Elite refrigerator, model # 795.77243601?

A:

The main control board (PCB) and a new light socket harness assembly will be needed and if the lens is melted it will also be covered under the extended warranty for this failure. Both of these parts have been updated and the warranty has been extended for the life of the product for this particular failure only. You will have to call a technician to have the parts replaced under the extended warranty.

I have this exact same model and exact same problem. We recently relocated to Ottawa, ON Canada. I've called Sears Customer Service and even had a Sears Home Services tech come out - they all state there is no warranty coverage for this problem. Is there any more specific details I can use to track down this extended warranty and have the repair covered?

I should have mentioned they said there was no extended warranty for this model for any issues, not just this problem. Just in case someone thought it may have been diagnosed as being a different problem. The tech actually diagnosed the issue and the required parts the same as posted by Joey S.

Just wanted to give a final update ... after much frustration and no less than 10 phone calls to different Sears folks in US and Canada, Sears Canada finally recognized this was covered as per Joey's posting above. Sears USA have it in their system as a known and specially covered problem. To get Sears Canada to recognize it, you have to call corporate customer service and request that your local Sears Service branch call you directly. The local branch will then investigate if you push them. There is no direct number to contact the service branch directly.

I have a similar fridge: 795.77243602 and I'm having the same problem. Can you tell me what part number I need to fix it, and instructions on how to fix it?

There's no guarantee the cause is the same for your fridge. I had a tech diagnose mine. You could try calling Sears to see if there is an extended warranty for the same issue on your model. Having said that, replacement is fairly easy (assuming you have the correct parts to fix the issue). You can locate the parts on searspartsdirect.com (see link). The PCB board is on back, just remove the board cover (501F on diagram), then swap the PCB out - just standard pcb clip connectors for the wires. The lens cover is simple enough to pop out by hand, but I'm not sure what's involved in swapping the light casing or sockets if they need replacing. According to the diagram, the main PCB for your fridge would be 501A (on diagram), part number 6871JK1011A @ $143, BUT they also list another part as Main PCB 501AA (not shown on diagram) part number 6871JB1375H @ $200 - perhaps an alternate or updated part, or could depend on your specific model/options. I have no idea - probably best to call Sears before blowing $150-200. The light lens cover for the main fridge area (not freezer) is 158A / 3550JJ1104A @ $27 which is what melted in mine. But you may have damage to other parts of the light assembly which consists of a number of parts (Case: 503D / 3110JJ1021A, Socket assembly: 410A / 6621JK2002D, Reflector: 409D / 3034JJ1002B). Final disclaimer: this is all my guessing based on my experience with a different model and not knowing anything about your fridge or specific problem. You should call Sears to see if you can get special extended warranty coverage for this issue. If it isn't covered, they should be able to assist you in identifying the proper parts over the phone. I have always had good experience with parts folks helping out and they've told me if they recommend the incorrect part (which has never happened) they would waive the restocking fee for returns and as well as shipping for replacement part. Best of luck!

Q:

Leaking water 79641473210 Kenmore Elite Washer

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Washer, Model: 796.41473210. From reviewing the details on your model, first, the washer must drain all the water out before it begins the spin cycle or it will centrifuge water over the tub cover or out the overflow tube. If water is leaking on the left hand side of the washer most likely it’s coming out of the over flow tube. I recommend opening the lid and to watch what is happening during the start of the drain and spin cycles. You'll be able to operate the washer and see where the water is leaking from.NOTE: Use caution when running the washer with the lid open. DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS INSIDE THE TUB.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the washer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

UE error 79631522210 Kenmore Elite Washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore washer.

From the information you have provided above, I can understand the frustration of having your washer malfunction, after researching model number 796.3152. the error code you are receiving states the load is out of balance or too small. If a small load is in the washer, add a few towels or garments to the load. If the load is a normal size, then redistribute the load and see if the washer spins. If the washer tub moves and bangs violently during the spin cycle, one or more of the suspension rod/spring assemblies may need to be replaced. Unplug the washer and examine those components.  The part number for the suspension assembly is 4902EA1002E. There are four of them surrounding the tub.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.
