Q:

troy bilt 3000 psi pressure washer. When you let off the handle the motor bogs down and then shuts off. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

A:

I can imagine the frustration with the presure washer continually shutting off. I would recommend adding the model number to help the expert provide the best information available. I did locate a similar question that may help while you wait. If parts are needed, the Sears Parts Direct link below can help.

Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having a problem with your pressure washer. When you release the trigger on the gun with the engine running, the unloader valve inside the pump opens and lets the water circulate inside the pump until you pull the trigger again. If the unloader valve is gummed up with hard water deposits or deposits from the detergent dispenser, it doesn't slide back and let the water recirculate. This causes the pressure inside the pump to rise until it stalls the engine. You will need to clean or replace the unloader valve on your pressure washer. Some customers have had some luck taking the unloader out and cleaning it with WD-40 and a scotch brite pad. The image below shows where the unloader is located. Click on the image to enlarge it. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears  technician.  Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations:  Sears Home Services.  I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.  Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark T.

On top of the previous question it is also doing this: Does water come out of the pressure valve? Where do you pump oil in the pump? How do you know if it is full. What kind of oil do I use? Thanks for any help with this.

Thank you for your question on the Troy-Built pressure washer.

Please give me a little more detail as to your problem.

I will give you a general manual for pressure washes and you can pick the size pump frame style to look at that may help you with the assembly of the pressure pump.

I hope this will help.
